In 1997, increased levels of chlorinated hydrocarbons (CKW) were detected downstream on a neighboring property. The first environmental investigations of the site of the former cleaning plant were carried out in 1999, with the result that there were considerable levels of LHC contamination in the soil air and groundwater. Groundwater remediation has been carried out at the site since 2009. The soil contamination was remedied by drilling out the contaminated areas and the soil air was remedied by soil air extraction.
