The Local Government Association Would Like To Commission A Series Of Six Short Case Studies (max 800 Words) Exploring Various Elements Of Family Hubs Delivery Within Local Authorities.

In Response To The Historic Rise In Micro-businesses And Self-employment Following The 2008-09 Economic Downturn And, The Disproportionate Impact Of Covid-19, The Lga Wishes To Commission Research To Understand Micro Businesses In Different Local Economies And The Role Councils And Their Partners Can Play To Support Them.

This Project Aims To Identify The Key Issues Facing People With Lifelong Disabilities, And Their Families, In Relation To How They Access Support From Local Authority Social Care Services From Childhood Through To Adulthood. The Research Will Particularly Consider Preparation For Adulthood (transition) But Is Interested In How People Are, Or Should Be, Supported Throughout Their Lives. A Further Piece Of Work Is Anticipated Which Will Build On This Initial Project, Considering The Factors Identified And Seeking Solutions.

The Successful Bidder Will Be Required To Support The Development And Implementation Of A Temporary Accommodation Peer Support Offer. The Information Gathered From This Exercise Will Inform A National Report, To Be Written And Researched By The Successful Bidder

The Fire Safety Act (fsa) Will Require Responsible Persons Under The Fire Safety Order To Review Fire Risk Assessments On Many Residential Buildings (a Prioritisation Tool Will Allow Owners To Divide Stock Between Properties That Require Immediate Action, Action In The Medium Term And Those That Need Not Alter Their Cycle Of Updating Risk-assessments). Regulations Will Be Introduced Later This Year Or Early In 2022 Implementing The Recommendations Of Phase One Of The Grenfell Tower Inquiry Lga Officers Have Worked With Nfcc And Civil Servants To Devise A Document Covering The Principles Of Effective Regulation Of Safety In High Rise Residential Blocks Under The Housing Act And Fso/fsa In The Interim Until The Building Safety Regulator Is Up And Running (which Should Begin In 2024). The Lga Is Supporting This Work By Commissioning Case Studies Highlighting The Work Of Local Authorities And Fire Services Working Together To Address Fire Safety Issues In These Buildings Since The Grenfell Fire.
