Dorset Council Is Seeking A Capable Service Provider To Deliver Laboratory Testing Services. Dorset Council's Children's Services Need To Undertake Specific Pieces Of Laboratory Testing Work Related To Children's Social Care (child Protection) As Well As Care Proceedings That Can Meet Court Deadlines And Specifications. This Includes Hair Strand Testing For Drug And Alcohol Use And Dna / Paternity Testing. Mostly Such Work Is Mandated By The Courts During Child Protection Proceedings. The Laboratory Work Must Meet Certain Set Iso Standards To Be Valid In Court Proceedings Which Are Set Out In The Service Specification. The Contract Term Is For 4 Years At A Maximum Of £125,000 Per Annum, Therefore A Total Contract Value Of £500,000. It Is Anticipated That The Contract Commencement Date Is 1 April 2024.

Each Winter There Are Approximately 500 Avoidable Excess Winter Deaths (ewds) In Dorset And An Estimated 4,000 Related Emergency Hospital Admissions, 16,000 Related Outpatient Visits, And 16,000 Related Social Care Calls, The Majority Of Which Affect Vulnerable Older People And People With Long Term Cardiovascular And Respiratory Conditions. Between A Fifth And A Third Of These Are Estimated To Be Caused By Cold Homes: It Is The Second Most Significant Factor For Ewd: Only Seasonal ‘flu Has More Of An Influence. Preventative Works Such As Insulation Are The Cornerstone To Providing Cost-effective Improvements In Resident Independence And Wellbeing While Delivering Reduced Demand For Social And Health Care And Their Relevant Costs. From 2015 To 2023, The Healthy Homes Dorset (hhd) Programme Has Provided Advice To Thousands Of Residents And Improved Hundreds Of Homes To Help Reduce Illness, Maintain Independence, Reduce Costs And Carbon Emissions And Improve Air Quality, While Supporting Construction Industry Skills And Jobs. Tenders Are Being Sought From Suppliers For The Delivery Of The Hhd Programme From April 2024 Over A Maximum 4 Year Term.

Dorset Council Is Looking For A Solution To House Their Stray Dogs. Under The Environmental Protection Act 1990 Section 149, Seizure Of Stray Dogs The Council Has A Duty To Seize Stray Dogs And House Them For 7 Clear Days, And Then If Not Claimed Find Them Suitable Homes. Dorset Council Will As Of The 01 April 2024 Will Not Have Any Facilities To House Dogs In Kennels For The 7-day Period. Therefore Dorset Council Is Asking If There Is Are Any Business/kennels Which Can Offer A Service To Care For These Dogs For This Period. This Could Be A For Short-term Or A More Permanent Measure. Any Businesses/commercial Kennels Would Have To Comply With The Animal Welfare (licensing Of Activities Involving Animals) (england) Regulations 2018 And/or The Animal Welfare Act 2006. Another Option Would Be For The Council To Lease Land From A Business, Where The Council Could Erect Their Own Temporary Kennels And Run These Themselves. Dorset Council Are Seeking Expressions Of Interest From Any Organisation Who Is Interested In Providing A Solution For Our Requirements From 01 April 2024. Interested Organisations Should Contact Dorset Council At Dp@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk, No Later 26th January 2024, Expressing Their Interest. This Eoi Process May Or May Not Result In A Tender Or Quotation Process, Depending On Any Eoi Returns Received By The Council.
