In December 2023, Kelowna Received $25.1 Million From The Province’s Childcarebc New Spaces Fund To Add 273 Childcare Spaces Across Future Community, Recreation, And Wellness Facilities As Part Of The Building A Stronger Kelowna Initiative. This Funding Aims To Establish New Licensed Childcare Options, Enhancing Access To Affordable, Quality, And Inclusive Childcare For Local Families. The Redevelopment Of Parkinson Recreation Centre, Mission Activity Centre, And Glenmore Activity Centre, Funded By This Initiative, Is Set To Open In 2027. Detailed Design Work For Parkinson Recreation Centre Started In Spring 2024, With Mission And Glenmore Activity Centres Beginning Their Design Phases In Fall 2024. Construction For All Three Facilities Is Scheduled To Commence In 2025. Through This Request For Qualifications (rfq) , The City Is Currently Seeking Qualified Non-profit Childcare Providers To Operate Childcare Services At These Three New Sites.
