The Irish Blood Transfusion Service collects approximately 140,000 donations per annum in 8 separate clinics. The blood donations are collected from collection clinics each evening and transported to the National Blood Centre. Samples and other materials associated with the blood donations are also transported in conjunction with the donations. The IBTS inter-site transfers red cells, platelets, plasma and medicinal product between NBC and MRTC centres.

Android tablets, chargers, and protective cases for use with the Donor Self-Assessed Health History (SAHH) process where donors will complete their medical questions electronically to reduce the need to capture this detail on paper. SAHH in an IBTS mobile clinic will be served from a laptop server so the tablets need to connect to current Wi-Fi network – PSK (pre-shared key) is the only option with the current routers.
