The general objective of the FORENV exercise is to improve the understanding by policy-makers of emerging environmental issues by supporting yearly cycles of the system for the identification of emerging environmental issues and related risks and opportunities (FORENV), set up by the Environment Knowledge Community (EKC).

The aim of this contract is to provide support to the European Commission for the implementation of the Natura 2000 biogeographical process in the marine region. This support mainly concerns organising, preparing and ensuring the smooth running of face-to-face or video conference seminars, meetings and workshops and help maintaining and promoting web-based resources.

The contractor will provide support to the EC in monitoring the implementation and enforcement of the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations, assist the MS in carrying out certain implementation and reporting tasks, and provide support to the EC/Member States/EUROPOL/Eurojust in the implementation of the actions contained in a revised EU Wildlife Action Plan.

The overall aim of this contract is to provide technical and scientific support to the Commission for the diverse and numerous activities in which the Commission is involved in implementing the birds and habitats directive as well as the biodiversity strategy for 2030.

This contract shall support the Commission in implementing the pledge for 3 billion additional trees in the EU by 2030. The contractor will help DG-ENV by carrying out desk research, producing some of the deliverables stemming from the EU Forest Strategy linked to the 3 Billion Trees pledge and organising events, especially with tree planting organisations.

The objective of this service contract is to support DG Environment, Unit D1 in the implementation of the EU soil strategy for 2030 and in the achievement of the soil objectives therein, except for the specific actions related to the development of the Soil Health Law, as indicated in the strategy.

The aim is to support the JRC European drought observatory in improving its capacity to address adaptation to droughts in various sectors. This is a part of the EP preparatory action 07027758 and complementary to the conclusions of the 2019 fitness check of the EU water law concerning climate change and droughts, as well the relevant Commission recommendations to MS in relation to climate change and droughts (the latest EC report on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive). Furthermore, it is in line with the priority actions of the new EU strategy on adaptation to climate change, adopted on 24 February 2021.

Robust data with regard to the state of biodiversity on farmland in the EU is currently missing due to the lack of systematic in situ monitoring. The objective of this contract is to run the EMBAL field survey in all EU countries, with a view to cover the knowledge gaps. This will enable establishment of biodiversity baseline in agricultural areas at EU level.

Facilitate the correct, comprehensive and uniform implementation of the Directive 2010/63/EU and its obligations. Help the Commission to prepare, carry-out and follow-up the necessary activities that are required to be completed as stipulated by the Directive.

Development of a system for monitoring pressures on pollinators is a key commitment under the EU Pollinators Initiative. Pesticides and other environmental pollutants are one of the major pressures. Robust and timely information about these pressures will enable development and implementation of effective actions for pollinator conservation, as well as their evaluation. This contract will build on the Insignia pilot project and implement a protocol for monitoring pesticides and other pollutants using honeybees in all EU countries.
