EirGrid has procured a contractor to provide Maintenance and Repair services for the East-West Interconnector with the capability to provide ongoing maintenance and repair services for the East-West Interconnector (EWIC) HVDC Converter Stations and Cable Storage Facility. The Portan and Shotton HVDC Converter Stations are located in Co. Meath (Ireland), and Deeside, (GB), with the HV Cable storage facility in Liverpool (GB). The Contractor shall have the capability to seamlessly deliver the services across these locations in line with the scope of requirements. The contractor shall be responsible for all maintenance repair and inspections of plant and equipment and systems defect repair work.

EirGrid has a Head of Internal Audit whose role includes the preparation of the annual Internal Audit Plan, the management of Internal Audit engagements and the provision of independent assurance to the applicable Board via the Audit and Risk Committee (or alternative committee where appropriate) on the operations of the systems of internal control, governance and risk management. EirGrid are seeking to secure support the undertaking of Internal Audit engagements under the direction of the Head of Internal Audit, to prepare Draft Internal Audit Reports, provide advice on Internal Audit related matters and to support assurance related activities within EirGrid. The Framework Agreement period will be for an initial duration of 3 years with an option to extend annually for up to a further 5 years (8 years in total) subject always to the satisfactory performance of the supplier.

In fulfilment of that direction, [EirGrid, through a wholly owned special purpose vehicle (EirGrid SPV 2022 DAC) procured from the market electricity generation plant for the purpose of subsequent transfer of that plant to one or more electricity generators in accordance with the EirGrid, Electricity and Turf (Amendment) Act 2022.] The present procurement relates to the appointment by EirGrid of electricity generators to provide 450 MW of generation onto the transmission network by a target date of winter 2023 / 2024.
