CEFAS24-110 Contract for desk based study of Pot Fisheries-This is a primarily desk-based study that will summarise existing data for whelk, crab and lobster fisheries to highlight the gaps that exist. Several projects are already completed or underway across the UK that look at innovative methods for fishery dependent data collection (e.g. Bangor University led cameras on crustacean boats, CEFAS led project for fishers to take photo of crab or lobsters). This report will summarise and collate information on all these existing innovations.

CEFAS24-125 Contract for long read sequencing on pollack samples-Background: The reference genome for pollack originated from a specimen collected from the English Channel. Cefas require a supplier to perform long read sequencing (using nanopore, pac-bio or other appropriate platform) on pollack samples collected from alternative areas of the Northeast Atlantic. CEFAS24-122 - Contract for Assessing susceptibility to climate change of important UK marine species-Services for desk based study to assess where important UK marine species lie within their global temperature ranges. Using climate scenarios for the UK selected from the IPCCs SSPs, the species thermal ranges and projected sea temperature increases will be used to classify the species as likely to (i) be lost from the UK, (ii) to decline, and (iii) to increase in abundance as a result of warming. CEFAS24-115 Contract for marine benthic macroinvertebrate analysis of Nioz cores collected around Farnes Deep 2024-The marine Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (m-NCEA) programme, in collaboration with Defra and the JNCC aims to contribute to improved understanding of ecosystem services provided by seabed habitat assets, including marine benthic macroinvertebrate sample processing. CEFAS24-92 Contract for marine benthic macroinvertebrate analysis of samples-Cefas require a Supplier to process the 36 sediment samples (12 stations with triplicate samples), to extract and identify all biota retained following sieving on a 1.0 mm capture mesh, as per the NMBAQC guidelines detailing extraction and identification protocols. In addition to this, there is a requirement to ensure these data are audited as per the NMBAQC Own Samples protocol prior to submission to Cefas (Hall, 2019).
