S106 Funding Has Provided The Opportunity To Plant New Trees, And Replace Some Dead & Dying Trees, Along The A34 Stratford Road And Elmdon Park. Along The Highway Corridor, Several Trees Have Suffered On Account Of Restricted Growing Conditions Which This Tender Aims To Address By Providing Appropriate Soil Volumes. There May Be One Or Two Other Locations For A Few Trees. The Project Will Deliver Aspects Of The Natural Capital And Adaptation Roadmap Within The Solihull Climate Change Prospectus And Contributes To The Council Commitment To Plant 25,000 Trees A Year To 2030. The Contract Comprises Tree And Shrub Planting Works, With Some Hard Landscape Treatment In The Construction Of Some Of The Tree Pits. Since 2017 Solihull Council Has Been Successful With European Regional Development Fund (erdf) Applications To Undertake A Wide Range Of Habitat And Nature Improvement Projects. This Funding Has Delivered Improved Conservation Status For Habitat Across Publicly Accessible Green Space Within The Urban Areas Of Solihull Borough.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (smbc) Are Seeking To Create A New Woodland For The Community And Public Open Space (pos) As Part Of Its Commitment In Response To Its Climate Change Goals To Plant 250,000 Trees. Smbc Also Want To Shape A Reflective Landscape Commemorating The Current Covid-19 Pandemic. A Site (known As Site 13) Has Been Identified By Smbc Which Is An Existing Pos With The Potential For Further Expansion Onto Adjacent Farmland (phase 2). It Is Located At The Edge Of Shirley, Solihull. The Proposals For Phase 1 Cover Three Existing Fields - The Welcome Entrance Area, The Healing Orchard, And The Secret Garden. This Contract Of Works Includes The Following Works: Bulb, Plug, Fern Planting; Creation Of Wildflower Meadow Areas; Installation Of A Woodchip And Timber Boardwalk Paths To Facilitate Access; Natural Play And Sculptural Elements; And Seating. Critically Minimal Mechanical Intervention Has Been Requested By Smbc To Undertake The Works.
