The aim of this tender is to select a future-proof solution that meets the highest requirements for data security, backup and recovery times and automation. A modern backup infrastructure should be faster, more flexible and more secure than the status quo in order to meet growing business requirements. For this purpose, a solution is sought that can be dynamically adapted to changing conditions and at the same time guarantees a secure and efficient data backup strategy. Automated data backup and recovery will significantly increase GNH's operational reliability compared to today, minimize downtime and ensure smooth business operations at all times. With this tender, GNH is looking for a partner who not only meets the technical requirements, but also offers an innovative and future-proof approach to optimizing the backup strategy. Gesundheit Nordhessen Holding operates a total of around 700 VMs on around 30 ESXi servers in its data centers, as well as a network from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). High-performance storage systems are used as the central storage solution. VMs and application data are backed up at different intervals, at least once a day. The storage units currently in use are soon to reach end of life and therefore need to be replaced. The backup repository servers are housed in an isolated network. The backups are checked for integrity weekly using Surebackup. In addition, instant VM recovery is possible at any time. Completed backup jobs are also saved on an LTO tape library as an airgapped backup. All backup jobs are managed centrally using the Veeam Backup and Replication backup software. The Veeam Backup and Replication software is already in use and is not part of the tender. Analyses have shown that current backup strategies must not only restore damaged data quickly and completely in the event of an error, they must also be resilient to the effects of cyber attacks such as ransomware attacks. On the one hand, this means that backup systems themselves are resistant to attacks so that they are not encrypted themselves, and on the other hand, that the systems can be restarted as quickly and completely as possible. In addition to the security requirements of a critical environment, the increased requirements in terms of storage volume and speed must also be taken into account.
