The required prior work experience for the bidder includes experience in successfully completing or substantially completing at least one contract of highway (road and/or bridge works) or airport runway of at least 40 percent of the value of the proposed contract within the last five years. The works may have been executed by the applicant as prime contractor or as a member of a joint venture or as a nominated sub-contractor. As a subcontractor, the bidder should have acquired the experience of execution of all major items. The value of similar works completed should be at least 40 percent of the value of the proposed contract. However, specific values are not mentioned. Substantially completed works mean those works which are at least 90% completed. In terms of percentage, the lead partner in a joint venture shall meet not less than 50 percent of all criteria, and the joint venture must collectively satisfy the criteria. The experience of the other joint venture partners shall be considered if it is not less than 30 percent of the qualifying criteria. The bidder should also have achieved a minimum annual financial turnover of the annual value of the contract applied for in any one year over the last five years.
