Provision Of Waste Management Services For United Nations Office At Nairobi (unon). & The United Nations Office At Nairobi (unon) Requires The Services Of A National Management Authority (nema) Licensed Contractor For The Provision Of Waste Management Services For The Buildings And Infrastructure Within The United Nations Gigiri Complex In Nairobi, Kenya. The 146-acre United Nations Gigiri Complex Currently Accommodates Over 3,500 Staff Members In Over 67,000 Square Meters Of Built Space. The Complex Is Managed On Behalf Of The United Nations Headquarters (unhq) In New York By The Local Administrative Branch Of The Secretariat, The United Nations Office At Nairobi (unon). The Goal Is To Apply An Effective Strategy To Reduce The Waste But Also To Minimize Quantities Of Waste Generated On The Complex From Ending Up In Landfill. Where Technically, Environmentally, And Economically Practicable, Waste Should Be Segregated, Consolidated, Weighed And Utilized As A Resource. Data On The Rates And Types Of Diversion From Landfill Achieved Are An Important Factor Balanced With The Costs Of Collecting Such Data. All The Services Shall Be Performed In Compliance With All Applicable Kenyan National Laws And Shall Include The Provision Of All The Required Labour, Sufficient Number Of Well-maintained Collection Vehicles And All Other Equipment Required For The Prompt And Efficient Collection And Removal Of All Waste Within The Waste Station. The Contract Is Anticipated To Be An Initial Period Of Three (3) Years, Renewable Annually For A Further Two (2) Year Period (3+1+1), For A Total Period Of Five (5) Years Subject To Successful Performance And Availability Of Funding. Requirements Of The Service Will Be: •supply Of All Transport, Materials, Tools Necessary To Carry Out The Works. •ensure That Professionals/ Personnel Engaged To Carry Out These Functions Are Qualified, Experienced, And Properly Registered With The Required Statutory Registration Bodies And According To Best Installation And Safety Practice. •provide Documentation: Proof Of Destruction Which States The Date The Waste Was Destroyed, The Amount Of Destructed Waste And A Signature Of The Responsible Person. •carry Out All Works And Services Under This Requirement In Accordance With Relevant Government Regulations, Best-practice Industry Design Standards, Codes, Rules And Regulations.
